Divisional Commissioner Asks VC LAWDA To Shift Employes With Long Mature Stay

Srinagar, Oct 11: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K. Polli has asked Vice Chairman LAWDA to immediately shift a Land Acquisition Clerk who has not been shifted from past 15 years.

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has shot a letter to VC LAWDA after a delegation in a written complaint to Divisional Commissioner accused that a clerk who has not been transferred from past 15 years in connivance with some employees has been running ‘mafia’ (land).

In a communique to VC LAWDA, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has written that: “It has been brought into my notice that one Manzoor Ahmed working as Land Acquisition Clerk section 1st at Miskeen Bagh Srinagar has not been shifted from last 15 years. Long stay at one place is detrimental to effective and clean governance. You are accordingly directed to shift the official if he has a long mature stay, as is alleged.”

A group of people said that the said employee has still not been shifted and he is working in the same Land Acquisition Section.

Immediate Financial Assistance Of Rs 6.25 Lakh Provided To Kin Of Vendor Killed By Militants, Says Srinagar Administration

New Delhi, October 11: The Srinagar district administration on Monday dismissed claims that no financial assistance was provided to the family of the street vendor from Bihar killed by militants at Lal Bazar, and said that apart from Rs 6.25 lakh of immediate assistance, the Jammu and Kashmir government had offered to airlifts his mortal remains.

The administration also informed that as many as three air tickets were reserved for the family of deceased Virender Paswan, but it was his brother’s decision to perform last rites in Srinagar.

“Apart from immediate financial assistance of Rs 6.25 Lac, J&K govt offered to airlift mortal remains of Sh. Virendra Ji. 3 Air tickets were also kept reserved. But his brother decided to perform the last rites in Srinagar. It was purely family’s decision,” Srinagar district administration said in a tweet.

This came after a video of a woman, allegedly Paswan’s wife, made rounds on social media. In it, the lady claimed that she wanted to see her husband’s face for one last time before cremation, but no one helped.

Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu had also condoled Paswan’s death and had said that he will personally travel to Bihar’s Bhagalpur to meet his kin.

“Will personally travel to Bhagalpur, Bihar to meet the family of Virender Paswan, a poor street vendor who was mercilessly killed by militants at Lal Bazar, Srinagar. His family deserves every last bit of our empathy, moral support and affection. We mourn his tragic demise,” he tweeted.

A total of three civilians were shot dead by militants in separate incidents in a single day in the union territory on October 5.—(ANI)

Customers Across Kashmir Fail To Make Any Transaction After JK Bank Suffers Outage

Srinagar, Oct 11: After facing frequent snags in its mpay application, Jammu Kashmir Bank faced an outage in almost every branch on Monday leaving customers huff and puff.
Customers were unable to make payments or access their accounts.

A bank official said that it became aware of the outage shortly after the branches opened for normal work. He said technical staff is on job to resolve the problem.

Scores of customers were seen waiting at the Residency Road Brach of Jammu Kashmir Bank here in Srinagar. Almost all the customers left the bank disappointed as they failed to make any transactions.

“I was here to withdraw the cash, but the employees informed that system is not working. I tried to withdraw the cash from ATM but the Teller Machine was also out of order,” said Muhammad Abbas.

Pertinently, mpay application of the bank face frequent problems much to the disappoint of customers.

A customer said that this is not a good sign while the customers expect better from the bank.

Another bank official declined to comment on the outage issue.

Some customers took to social media networking sites to complain about the outage, calling the delay in solving the issue “not good enough”.

Sources said that bank faced outage across Kashmir Valley. All the customers visiting the bank branches left without entering into transaction. “I am Tulmulla Ganderbal and here too system is out of order and we are unable to make any transactions,” said a customer Abdul Lateef.

Pertinently, during the intervening night of October 8 and 9, no services were available on JK Banks ATM, Debit Card Services, mpay, UPI, and NEFT / RTGS.

The Bank had not resolved the outage problem till the filing of this report.knt

Srinagar, Oct 11: A suspicious object which was found on Monday near BDO in Dadrsa area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has turned to be containing empty plastic bottles tied with a wire.

A Police officer told that a Bomb Disposal Squad was called after the suspicious object was found in Dadrsa.

After searching the object for possible explosives, the BDS found that it contained a few plastic bottles which were tied with a wire.

New Delhi, Oct 11: A day after resigning from the National Conference, Devender Rana, the former head of its Jammu division, along with another party leader Surjit Singh Slathia joined the BJP on Monday.

Rana and Slathia joined the BJP at its headquarters here in the presence of Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Hardeep Singh Puri and Jitendra Singh.

Rana, who is a former MLA and the younger brother of Union minister Jitendra Singh, has also served as a political advisor to former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah.

BJP general secretary in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh and its Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina welcomed them in the party.

Rana has been advocating for the Jammu declaration – a joint declaration of several political, social and business organisations, primarily demanding restoration of statehood for the Jammu region and not for the whole Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2019, the Centre had revoked the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcated it into union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.—(PTI)

Kashmir University Yet To Declare MD, MS Final Examination Result

Srinagar, Oct 11: The students who have appeared in final exam of MD and MS Monday appealed Kashmir University to declare the results without any further delay. They said they fail to understand why results are not being declared when Jammu University has already made it public.

MD, MS students from GMC Srinagar had appeared in final exam some two months ago. SKIMS and Jammu University have already declared the results but Kashmir University as per students is resorting to dilly dally tactics and not declaring the results.

“We believe results are not being declared on the behest of concerned authorities as they want to retain us in the hospitals where we are posted. It is an attempt to deprive us of Senior Resident posts and salaries,” the aggrieved students said.

They said after the declaration of the result, they deserve post of senior resident. “To deprive us from that post and salary, results are not being declared.”

The aspirants appealed Kashmir University to declare the result without any delay.
