Gunfight In Natipora Srinagar, One Militant Killed Another Escaped
Residential House Gutted In Kokernag Village Of Anantnag District
Anantnag, Oct 08: A residential house was gutted in a fire incident at Watrihall Perrtakiya Village of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday afternoon.
Reports reaching said that a massive fire broke out around 3 pm in the residential house of one Mohammad Iqbal Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik at Watrihall Peertakiya Kokernag.
Later on locals immediately rushed towards spot and with the help of fire tenders doused off the flames.
In this mishap the one story house was completely damaged. However, no loss of life or injury was reported.
The cause of fire was not known immediately and the same is being ascertained, officials said.
Family Members, Relatives Of Slain School Principal Stage Silent Sit-In Outside Civil Secretariat Srinagar
Srinagar, Oct 08: Family members and relatives of slain school principal Friday staged a silent sit-in outside civil secretariat Srinagar and demanded justice.
Witnesses told news agency members of Sikh community, majority of whom were family members and relatives of slain school principal Supinder Kour, who was shot dead along with her colleague Deepak Chand, at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sangam, Eidgah, Srinagar, walked on foot from Aloochibagh to Civil Secretariat. “The family members of Kour were carrying her body on a stretcher and when they reached the Civil Secretariat, they staged a silent-sit-in,” witnesses said.
Senior police officers reached the spot and persuaded the family members of Kour to take her body to Batamaloo cremation ground for last rites. However, the family members of slain Kour demanded “justice and stern punishment to the killers” before proceeding for cremation ground.kno
All Parties Hurriyat conference (APHC) Expresses Shock Over Civilian Killings In Anantnag, Srinagar
Srinagar, Oct 08: All Parties Hurriyat conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said that it deeply grieves the cold blooded murder of Yasir Ali from Jammu in the forces firing in Anantnag last evening.
APHC in a statement, issued to the news agency said that such brutal killings are the norm in J&K for the last more than three decades and thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in this causal manner with impunity.
“When militarisation to repress is pursued as a state policy to handle a live and lingering conflict, rather than seeking conflict resolution, bloodshed and loss of precious human lives -are the consequence.”
The statement reads that APHC regrets this approach of the state and strongly condemned the killings. “It reiterates that a just resolution through peaceful means of the Kashmir conflict is the key to end bloodshed in all its manifestations and usher lasting peace- not the lull before every new storm for the people of Kashmir, that is trumpeted as peace in J&K by the rulers.”
APHC extended its heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family of Yasir Ali and prayed for patience for the family.
APHC also grieved the shocking killing of two teachers Supinder Kaur Ji and Deepak Chan in Srinagar on Thursday.
APHC said that it shares the grief and pain that the families of the victims are going through and extended its heartfelt condolences to them.
APHC also said that it believes as do the people of Kashmir, that each and every life lost in the conflict matters equally.
“No victim is seen through the religious prism as each and every one is an equally important part of our society. Irrespective of our faith, all in this land have suffered, and together all the people of J&K press for early resolution of the conflict,” the statement reads.
Monsoon Completely Withdraws From Jammu And Kashmir, Ladakh: MeT
Srinagar, Oct 8: Weatherman on Friday said that South West Monsoon has completely withdrawn from J&K and Ladakh.
“From now on, each spell of rain/snow will be due to westerly winds (Western Disturbances) which generally originates from Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Sea,” a Meteorological department official said.
Meanwhile, the official told that Srinagar recorded a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius against normal of 7.3 degree Celsius for this time of the season.
He said Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minimum of 8.1 degrees Celsius against 6.3 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, witnessed a low of 4.8 degrees Celsius and normal of 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag had a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius against normal of 7.7 degrees Celsius, the official said.
Northern Kashmir’s Kupwara town recorded minimum of 5.8 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district had a low of 6.4 degrees Celsius against 4.7 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir till October 10.
IED Detected On Achabal-Kokarnag Road In Anantnag Destroyed By Bomb Disposal Squad
Anantnag, 08 Oct: A Bomb Disposal Squad diffused an Improvised Explosive Device after it was detected by Joint Forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.
Official sources told that a Joint team of police party from Police Station Achabal along with soldiers from19 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF personnel from 164 Battalion detected an IED installed on Achabal- Kokernag Road.
Official sources added that shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restrict.
A Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to spot and destroyed the IED without causing any harm, they said.
Police in this regard registered a case against unknown persons and set investigation into motion, they added.gns
PDP Demands LG’s Resignation Over Deteriorating Security Situation In Kashmir, Stages Protest At Party Headquarters
Srinagar, Oct 08 In the wake of series of civilian killings in the past one week in Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) demanded Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha’s resignation on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarter, PDP Suhail Bukhari said that the LG has lost his moral authority to continue his job in the erstwhile state following the recent killing of the civilians in the valley.
“For the past two years, MHA is directly controlling the security situation in the valley. And look what it has led to us today,” Bukhari said as per news agency
Bukhari said, the onus lies on the Government of India and its administration for the deteriorating security situation in the valley.
“No Kashmiri is feeling safe today. The situation has worsened here, ” he said. “We demand immediate resignation of the LG.”
The PDP workers later staged a protest and tried to match towards the city center Lal Chowk. However, police throttled their attempt and limited them within the premises of their party office.

Srinagar, Oct 8 Former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah and Peoples Conference Chief Sajad Gani Lone have called for “sanity to prevail” after a 28-year-old youth, father of two-minor daughters, was killed in CRPF firing in Anantnag district of south Kashmir last evening.
PDP chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called it a “knee-jerk” reaction and asked if “any action will be taken against the trigger happy personnel.”
“Yasir Ali killed by security forces at a check point in South Kashmir last night. A heightened state of alert cannot be a reason to open fire like this. Senior officers of the security forces need to ensure calmer heads prevail & nothing happens to worsen the situation,” Omar Abdullah said in a tweet.
“While condemning this tragic killing, I send my condolences to the family of Yasir. Allah marhoom ko magfirat farmaye, Ameen.”
PC chief and former minister in erstwhile state government on BJP quota, Sajad Lone said in a tweet: “In what seems to have tell tale signs of Excessive use of force by security forces— one person has been killed. Ominous signs. Hope sanity prevails.”
Reacting to the killing, Mehbooba Mufti took to twitter: “This appears to be the start of a knee jerk reaction to what has transpired during last two days.
Disproportionate force has been used by CRPF which has resulted in this innocent civilian’s death. Will there be any action against the trigger happy personnel?”
The killing comes amid spate of civilian killings in last few days in Kashmir Valley.
While police is yet to officially identify the deceased, initially reports identified him a Yasir Ali but more authoritative identification suggests that slain was a tribal man—Parvaiz Ahmed son of Noor Din of Rajkang Block Larnoo in Kokarnag tehsil of Anantnag. The 28-year-old tribal man is said to be father of two minor daughters.
Police in a tweet late last evening said that CRPF personnel fired in “self defence” but did not reveal if any fire was opened at them at a Naka near Monghal Bridge.
“A Naka was established by 40Bn CRPF at Monghal Bridge. A suspected vehicle without number was signalled to stop by the Naka party, however, it rushed towards the Naka party. It was then challenged by the on duty troops,” police said, adding, “Troops fired upon in self defence in which one person died. But the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot. Identification & credentials of the deceased person is being verified. Investigation is going on.”
