Srinagar, Oct 7, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said that she is disturbed to see the deteriorating situation in Kashmir where a minuscule minority is the latest target.

Elderly Woman Dies Of Electric Shock In Kokernag Anantnag
Kokernag, Oct 07: A 54-year-old woman died of electrocution after she received a shock from electric heater in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Thursday.
Official sources told that Asha Begum wife of Mohammad Shafi Dar suffered burn injuries after receiving shock from an electric heater.
“She was rushed to a hospital in Kokarnag, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.”
A police official said that the incident has been recorded as a case of accidental death.kno
Massive Blaze Breaks Out In Srinagar’s Parimpora Locality
Srinagar, Oct 7: A massive blaze has broken out in Parimpora locality, adjacent to Fruit Mandi, engulfing several residential houses.
Reports reaching said that the blaze broke out this afternoon and soon after engulfed several residential houses besides few other structures. The fire tenders are on spot, however the flames continued to rage – when this report was being filed.
A Fire and Emergency Services official told that efforts are on to douse off the flames. “We have sent eleven fire tenders to the spot, he said adding however it may take time as the fire has spread to several structures.”
Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul –Islam Grieved, Shocked Over Civilian Killings, Says Innocent Killings Not Justified At All, Will Continue To Keep The Communal Fabric Of Kashmir Intact, Extends Solidarity To All Bereaved Families
Srinagar, Oct 07: Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam expressed his shock and grief over the spate of innocent killings of civilians in Kashmir and stated that it was unfortunate that members of a particular community are being targeted.
While condemning the civilian killings, he said that no religion allows the killing of innocent civilians and that this will lead to nowhere.
Mufti Nasir expressed his deep shock and grief and extended solidarity and sympathies with the families of all those killed in the past few days in Srinagar stating that Islam prohibits attacking unarmed person. “Muslim community of Kashmir stand with the bereaved families at this hour of grief and shock,” he said.
He said that no one will be allowed to harm the communal fabric of Kashmir which is intact since past so many decades.
Four Persons Injured As Car Skids Off Road In Wayil Ganderbal
Srinagar, Oct 7: At least four persons sustained injuries after a car they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a drain canal at Wayil in central-Kashmir’s Ganderbal district this afternoon.
Reports reaching said that driver of an Alto car bearing registration number JK16B 1916 purportedly lost control over the vehicle and fell into a drain canal near ‘Hope Disability Centre’, resulting in injuries to four persons. The injured persons, three among which identified as Umar Rashid Sofi of Gutlibagh, Danish Ahmad of Bakura and Shabu of Dhobipora, were immediately removed to a nearby health facility wherefrom all of them were taken to SKIMS Soura for preferential treatment.
Confirming the incident a police official told that all the four injured persons have been taken to SKIMS Soura. “One among them has sustained critical injuries”, the official further said.
UBGL Shell Detected In Kulgam, Defused: Officials
Qazigund, Oct 07: A UBGL shell was detected and later defused in Mir Bazar area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Official sources told that the shell was detected at Malpora Mir bazar by locals following which police was called and they later informed the BDS.
“The BDS rushed to the spot and defused the shell without any damage,” they said.
Notably, a non-local militant was killed in an encounter on August 13 this year at the same spot.
Killing Unarmed Civilians A Conspiracy To Damage Age-Old Communal Harmony In Kashmir: J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh
Srinagar, Oct 07: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Thursday said that killing of unarmed civilians in Srinagar is a move to damage and attack the age-old traditional communal harmony in Kashmir and police has already got some clues about previous killings and will also probe the fresh incident too. He, however, was quick to add that the killers will be nabbed very soon.
Talking to reporters outside the Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sangam, Eidgah, Srinagar, the DGP said that killing of innocent civilians reflects “frustration and barbarism.”
“This is an attempt to defame local Muslims of Kashmir. Killing innocent civilians including teachers is a move to attack and damage the age-old tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood in Kashmir,” the J&K Police chief said. He said killing innocents is a conspiracy to “target local ethos and values” which will be defeated by the police and people collectively.
He said that police have got some clues and leads about the killers in previous cases and that the fresh case will be probed too. “I talked to staff members of the school and they are in total shock over losing two colleagues. Police will nab the killers very soon,” he said.kno
Global Covid-19 Caseload Tops 236.4 Mn, The US Continues To Be The Worst-Hit Country With The World’s Highest Number Of Cases And Deaths At 44,058,671 And 707,775
The global coronavirus caseload has topped 236.4 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.82 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.36 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 236,460,806, 4,827,568 and 6,367,278,661, respectively.
The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 44,058,671 and 707,775, according to the CSSE.
In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 33,871,881 cases.
The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (21,516,967), the UK (8,044,341), Russia (7,548,944), Turkey (7,327,317), France (7,310,355), Iran (5,662,458), Argentina (5,263,219), Spain (4,969,503), Colombia (4,965,847), Italy (4,689,341), Germany (4,284,400), Indonesia (4,223,094) and Mexico (3,691,924), the CSSE figures showed.
