Scars Of 2016 Unrest Will Continue To Haunt People Of Kashmir For Decades: Ghulam Ahmad Mir

Pellet horror in Pulwama, Shopian outcome of PDP’s surrender before BJP

Asserting that the scars of 2016 unrest in #SouthKashmir will continue to haunt people of Kashmir for decades reminding them of Torture & Barbarism on the part of #PDP_BJP Govt, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and Party Candidate GHULAM AHMAD MIR has said that people of Shopian & Pulwama should not trust PDP & other opportunist parties which are out to mislead people “again” for electoral benefits.

This was stated by G.A. Mir while addressing meetings of #Pulwama, #Rajpura and #Pampore constituencies at town hall Pulwama and resolved to fight against the betrayal & political exploitation on the part of PDP, BJP, NC and others.

Addressing the gathering G.A. Mir said he believes people of Pulwama & Shopian after witnessing bloodshed, brutality and loot by the PDP led Govt should ensure defeat of PDP, NC and other opportunist Parties in the present elections and cautioned them about their falsehood and political gimmicks aiming to generate peoples support, the fact of the matter was, Shopian Pulwama has undergone tremendous damages due to misrule and mis-governance on the Part of previous PDP led Govt in the State, he said.

The Coalition Govt led by PDP could have averted the damages and loss of precious lives in twin districts of Shopian & Pulwama had they not surrendered their agenda before BJP RSS. It was also unfortunate on its part that after getting a good mandate from South Kashmir this party aligned with the BJP for the sake of power thereby ensuring inroads to communal and fascist forces led by BJP in Kashmir valley.

The people in Valley especially South Kashmir should not forget as to what the PDP had promised them in 2014 elections and what they (people) achieved after voting for this opportunist Party, people got pellets and bullets in response to their vote and support to PDP in 2014, Mir said.

Pellet horror in Pulwama, Shopian was outcome of PDPs surrender before BJP, hundreds of bullet injured and pellet injured people were still under treatment in their homes and hospitals, scores of innocent civilians were killed, what was their fault, Mir questioned, their fault was only they were agitating against the barbarism, misrule and mis-governance, they were agitating against the bloodshed and innocent killings during PDP BJP rule, G.A.Mir said.

He said the PDP BJP presided over a darkest era of the State, now the PDP leadership was trying to generate support by showing tears in their eyes, which wont change the mood of the people, for the fact, they (people) have lost trust will not repeat the mistake they have committed in 2014, G.A. Mir said.

Describing the Congress Party as strong & unifying force in the Country & State Mir said the Party is capable enough to defeat the communal, fascist forces, which are hell bent upon to cause damages to special status of J&K, G.A. Mir said that people should also realize that Congress Party is set to form Govt at Centre, will do everything to bring the people of J&K out of morass, besides ensuring their safety and security, besides protecting Special Status granted to J&K, G.A. Mir added and appealed people of Shopian & Pulwama district to ensure his victory with a thumping majority.

Mir also assured that Congress Party will take effective measures to bring respite to people in every respect by fighting against corruption and discrimination on the part of opportunist political parties and assured that Party will stay true to its promises.

Those who addressed the gathering included Senior Party Leaders Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Syed Bashir, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Surinder Singh Channi, Farooq Andrabi, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Indu Pawar, Irfan Naqib, Gulam Mohd Mir, Mohd Ayoub Thoker, Umer Jan, PCC DCC Members,Block Presidents, Youth Leaders and others.

Respond To PDP Betrayal With Ballot G A Mir Urges People Of  Kulgam, Pulwama & Shopian, JK Witnessed Complete Misrule In BJP-PDP Regime

The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) & Party Candidate from Anantnag Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency G.A. Mir has reiterated his appeal to people of Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama to rise to the occasion and respond to the betrayal of PDP in the present elections by using ballot.

Mir also said that people should not miss this opportunity as it was a fight between communal and secular forces and their vote to Congress Party will strengthen the Secular Forces in the Country and State.

G.A.Mir stated this while addressing prominent Party workers and peoples delegations at Khanabal Anantnag emphasizing them to work hard and ensure  defeat of politics of exploitation and betrayal on the Part of PDP and other Parties, who have equally misled and betrayed people for power,  playing emotional cards, from time to time, for the sake of electoral gains.

Mir said people of entire Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed complete misrule and mis-governance by the PDP BJP Coalition, who secured votes by playing with their emotions on various counts, he said.

PDPs slogan of self-rule,  repeal of AFSPA, stopping BJP RSS from  making inroads in valley, bringing back power projects etc, BJP’s abrogation of Special Status and many other sensitive issues on which both the parties misled people, as a result, PDP got 28 and BJP 25 Seats in 2014 Elections, despite the contradiction in their approach they  formed the alliance by not caring about the aspirations of people both in Jammu and Kashmir resulting in there was anger and anguish among the people, which was also responsible for huge damages caused to peace & development in the  State.
People are wise enough to understand as to what PDP was doing for securing votes  keeping aside Tofee, Milk Politics, as if, nothing has happened in valley, but  I am confident this time the betrayal and backstabbing on the Part of PDP will be responded strongly by ensuring it’s defeat in the elections, Mir added and said PDP, BJP or any other Political Party cannot longer befool people by playing emotional cards to generate sympathy.

JKPCC President emphasized the people of South Kashmir to strengthen the Secular Forces by ensuring Congress Party victory  in the present elections and send a strong voice to Parliament to represent them genuinely.

Vajpayee Formula Only Way Forward To Resolve Kashmir Issue, Modi Reiterates At Rally In Varanasi

Reiterating at his Varanasi rally that former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s formula is the way forward to resolve the Kashmir issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Atal Ji formula of Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhooriyat is the only way forward.”

Modi has also said that the coalition between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was a ‘Mahamilawahat’ (mixture) of oil and water.

He said that few families in Kashmir say one thing to people in New Delhi and when they go back to Kashmir they say another thing to people there. “A handful of families who say one thing in New Delhi and other in Kashmir need to come out of the hypocrisy,” Modi said.

The prime minister also referred to the coalition between PDP-BJP as a ‘Mahamilawat’ (mixture).
“A handful of people have blackmailed the people of Kashmir. When we were with Mufti Sahab, we thought that we will come out of it. But that was our Mahamilawat like mixture of oil and water,” Modi said.
He said that both the parties agreed to come together despite different ideologies. “The mandate was such that we had to forge an alliance. However, we left the alliance for democracy. We wanted to have the Panchayat elections in the state,” the prime minister said.
Reiterating that Modi does not want advice on the issue of Kashmir, the prime minister said that he has been to many parts of the state in the past so understands the state well.
“I already have an understating on Kashmir. There was no need for me to be in power for five years to understand Kashmir. In the past, I have been to Kashmir many times and know people and the areas there,” Modi said.
The prime minister had also snubbed the former two-time chief minister and the veteran politician of the State of Jammu and Kashmir late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed at a public rally in 2015 saying that ‘he (Modi) does not need advice of anyone on Kashmir’.

Lashkar-E-Toiba Militant Arrested Earlier This Week In Baramulla Produced Before Media

A Pakistani militant belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit who was “tasked” with reviving militancy in certain areas of the Kashmir valley was arrested from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here on Wednesday.

Mohammad Waqar Awan, a resident of Mohalla Miana in Mianwali area of Punjab in Pakistan, was arrested earlier this week and paraded before the media on Wednesday at the Police Control Room.

Asked if he was involved in any attacks in the valley, Awan said, I was not involved in any attack.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom, said Awan had infiltrated in the valley in July 2017.

He was active in Handwara (area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district). For the last about two years, he was active in different places of Srinagar. When he was returning to Baramulla, he was intercepted at a naka (check post). However, the driver of his vehicle rammed it into police vehicle and sped away.

The police chased them and about 1.5 km away from the naka, they left their vehicle on the road and tried to flee, but were apprehended. The driver, a conduit, is a Kashmiri. We will share further details when we have them, the SSP said at the press conference.

Qayoom said Awan’s primary task was to revive militancy in those areas which had been declared militancy-free.

We had this input that since Baramulla was declared free of militancy, they (militant leadership) were under pressure to revive the militancy there and that is why these two were going to Baramulla, he said.

He said a pistol and some other things were recovered from the Pakistani militant when he was arrested.

Asked about Awan’s activities in Srinagar, the SSP said he mostly visited areas around Srinagar-Baramulla highway and few areas in downtown the interior areas of the city here.

We are identifying and pinpointing more people involved with him, Qayoom said.

“His coming in front of you (reporters) and sharing the details, is live evidence for Pakistan as to how they ready the youth there for militancy and send them here for joining Jaish-e-Mohammad or Lashkar-e-Toiba,” said DGP Dilbagh Singh.

NIA Court Discharges Awantipora Student In ‘Jalandhar Terror Attack’ Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Mohali discharged a Kashmiri student arrested in connection with the “Jalandhar terror attack”. Special NIA judge Nirbhow Singh Gill issued Danish Rehman Sofi’s release order, Times of India reported.

Danish was arrested on October 19, 2018, a week after Punjab Police and special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir Police busted an alleged “terror module” in Jalandhar with the arrest of four Kashmiri students allegedly linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).

Three Kashmiri students — Zahid Gulzar, Mohammed Idris Shah alias Nadeem, and Yusuf Rafiq Bhatt — were arrested on October 10, 2018 from the hostel of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology at Shahpur on the outskirts of Jalandhar. Two weapons, including an assault rifle, and explosives were recovered from them. Fourth Kashmiri student, Sohail Ahmed Bhatt, was arrested on October 11, 2018. Sohail, who was also a student in Jalandhar, was picked up for assisting the three arrested students in picking up the weapon consignment from Amritsar on October 7, 2018.

Danish, from Awantipura in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, was a third year B Tech student of Universal Group of Institutions, Lalru, Mohali, and used to stay in Dera Bassi. He was the fifth Kashmiri student to be arrested in the case as he was believed to be a close aide of Sohail Ahmed Bhatt. He was arrested from Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA had earlier filed chargesheet against the accused and had mentioned it did not find any evidence of Danish’s involvement in the case. The chargesheet said that the NIA court could drop the charges against Danish filed by the police as there was no evidence against him, the report said

The police had claimed Danish shared good relations with the AGH head, Zakir Rashid Bhat, better known as Zakir Musa, and that he had knowledge about the activities of the four arrested students and the supply of weapons.

Danish has been discharged of all the sections he was arrested — 121 (waging or attempting to wage war against the country and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Explosives Act, according to the judge’s order.

The NIA has refused to divulge details about the case against the remaining four students arrested in the case before Danish.

Sri Lanka Blasts Toll Rises To 290,13 Suspects Arrested

The toll in a series of eight blasts targeting mostly churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday has risen to 290, a police spokesman said Monday.

More than 500 people were wounded in the blasts, he added, in the deadliest violence since the end of the country’s long-running civil war a decade ago.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan police have arrested 13 men in connection with bomb blasts on churches and hotels that killed more than 200 people, officials said Monday.

Authorities have not made public details on those held after Sunday’s attacks. But a police source told AFP the 13 were detained at two locations in and around Colombo.

The source said the 13 men are from the same radical group.

At least two of the eight attacks were carried out by suicide bombers, according to police and other sources, and three police were killed when another suicide bomber detonated explosives during a raid on a house where suspects were.

129 Killed, Over 400 Injured As Six Blasts Hit Three Churches, Three Five-Star Hotels In Sri Lanka

Six near simultaneous explosions rocked three churches and three hotels frequented by tourists in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday morning, killing at least 129 people and injuring over 400 others, in one of the deadliest blasts in the island nation’s history, officials said.

The blasts targeted St Anthony’s Church in Colombo, St Sebastian’s Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa around 8.45 a.M. (local time) as the Easter Sunday mass were in progress, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.

Three explosions were reported from the five-star hotels – the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury. Foreigners and locals who were injured in hotel blasts were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital.

Hospital sources said that 129 have been killed so far in the blasts.

“42 people died in Colombo, 60 in Negombo and 27 in Batticaloa,” they said.

The Colombo National Hospital spokesperson, Dr Samindi Samarakoon, said more than 300 people have been admitted with injuries.

The blast left 73 injured in Batticaloa, officials said.

“Many casualties including foreigners,” said Harsha de Silva, the Minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution.

No group has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attacks.

However, most of the deadly attacks in the past in Sri Lanka were carried out by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) which ran a military campaign for a separate Tamil homeland in the northern and eastern provinces of the island nation for nearly 30 years before its collapse in 2009 after the Sri Lankan Army killed its supreme leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

President Maithripala Sirisena has appealed for calm.

“I have been shocked by this totally unexpected incidents. The security forces haven been asked to take all action necessary,” Sirisena said.

The Sri Lankan government has summoned an emergency meeting called. All necessary emergency steps have been taken by the government, a minister said, adding that an official statement will be issued soon.

“Horrible scenes. I saw many body parts strewn all over. Emergency crews are at all locations in full force. We, at 1990 also have close to 20 units at the various locations. We took multiple casualties to hospital. Hopefully saved many lives,” Harsha de Silva said.

The Indian High Commission in Colombo said that it was closely monitoring the situation in Sri Lanka.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Indian citizens in need of assistance or help and for seeking clarification may call the following numbers : +94777903082 +94112422788 +94112422789,” the High Commission tweeted.
